Case synopsis:

Andrew Oteng-Owusu, 19, was stabbed to death in New Cross on 3 August 2016.

Police and paramedics were called to Sharratt Street at around 11.41pm after his mother found him injured on his own doorstep.

Mr Oteng-Owusu was pronounced dead at hospital at 11.30am on 4 August. A post-mortem gave the cause of death as a single stab wound.

Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses and have offered a £20,000 reward for information leading to arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

In September 2016 Detective Inspector Tom Dahri, who is leading the investigation for the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "It is nearly two months since Andrew was stabbed near to his home at the junctions of Hornshay Street and Lovelinch Close.

"We know that after he was stabbed he staggered home and collapsed at his front door, where he was found by his mother.

"He has been described as a "gentle giant" and was a carer for his mother, who is on dialysis. There are few clues as to why this might have happened.

"The community on the Lovelinch Estate have been really supportive of the investigation, and we have spoken to a number of witnesses so far, but I would still like to speak to a young black man, who we understand walked with Andrew to his block after he had been stabbed.

"Also the two men in the CCTV images we have released who were both walking in the area when Andrew was stabbed.

"It is entirely possible that they may have seen or heard something that could be important to the investigation and it is imperative they come forward.

"I would like to reassure them that they are being treated as witnesses and will be dealt with in the utmost sensitivity."

Andrew's mother Tina Ababio said: "Andrew was a very gentle, humble and polite young man, helpful to everyone he knew, especially in the neighbourhood.

"He was a wonderful carer for me and my only child and loved by everyone who knew him because of his nature.

"I don't understand who would be capable of taking his life."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room at Lewisham Police Station on 020 8721 4961. To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A 55 year-old man was arrested and released on bail.
