Case synopsis:

Noel Brown, 69, and his daughter Marie Brown, 41, were found dead in Deptford on 4 December 2017.

Police forced entry to Mr Brown's home in New Butt Lane at 2.45am after Marie's family reported she had failed to return home after checking on the welfare of her father.

Their bodies were found at the scene. Postmortem examinations confirmed that both Noel and Marie died of strangulation.

Mr Brown, who was well known in the area and frequently visited the nearby Paddy Power betting shop, was last seen alive by a neighbour at around 8pm on 30 November.

His daughter Marie, who lived in Southwark, was last seen when she went to visit him at midday on 2 December.

Detectives believe it is highly likely that Noel was killed overnight from Thursday, 30 November into the early hours of Friday 1 December and that Marie was killed very soon after she entered the flat around noon on Saturday 2 December.

During early appeals the Metropolitan Police asked for information about two men seen visiting Noel's flat in the early hours of Thursday, 30 November or Friday, 1 December.

In further appeals on 20 December detectives issued CCTV footage of a suspect seen walking towards New Butt Lane. The clips show a man dressed in a hooded top and carrying a rucksack on his back as he walked along Deptford Broadway to Reginald Road at around 5pm on 2 December before heading directly into one of the entrances to the cul-de-sac.

On 10 May 2018 police revealed that they had forensically linked suspect Nathaniel Henry, 37 (26.07.80), to the offence.

Henry was reported missing by his family on 12 December 2017 and was found dead at a residential block in the borough of Southwark near to his home on 31 December 2017. The death was deemed non-suspicious.

Detectives said they were trying to piece together the final movements of Nathaniel Henry.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Noel Brown had a conviction for sex offences in 1999 but said they were keeping an open mind as to motive.

Marie's family said in a statement: "As a family we are struggling to put together an appeal because we are still in shock and disbelief. Marie was the peacemaker and we cannot understand why this would happen to her. It is obvious that we need to find the person or people who have done this to her, but we have no information and need your help.

"Please if you know anything come forward and let the police know, even if it's the smallest detail. Marie was everything and we miss her so much, we are hurting and this is painful and we don't want this to happen to someone else. No one should ever have to feel this pain. Marie was a calm peaceful person, slow to anger and quick to forgive, she never got caught up in any sort of fight and avoided feuds with anyone because she didn't want to be a part of anyone's upset. To know Marie would be to know how much she loved. Her life was her kids and how much she loved them and would do anything for them."
