Case synopsis:

At 8.50am on July 7, 2005, a suicide bomber blew himself up on an underground Circle Line train as it pulled away from Edgware Road station towards Paddington.

Six people died in the explosion. They were:

  • Michael Stanley Brewster, 52, a civil engineer and married father-of-two from Swanwick, Derbyshire
  • Jonathan Downey, 34, a married man from Milton Keynes who worked as an HR systems development officer for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
  • David Foulkes, 22, a Guardian media sales manager from Oldham
  • Colin Morley, 52, a married father of three from Finchley, north London, who worked in advertising and marketing and set up the Bethechange website
  • Jennifer Nicholson, 24, from Reading, who worked for a music publishing company
  • Laura Webb, 29, from Islington, north London, who worked as a PA in the advertising agency, DDB Europe.

The bomber was Mohammad Sidique Khan, a 30 year-old British Muslim who grew up in Beeston Leeds. He was married and had a one year-old daughter.

It is believed he was the leader of the group responsible for the four 7/7 bombings. The other attacks took place on the Circle Line between Aldgate and Liverpool Street, the Piccadilly line between King's Cross and Russell Square, and a number 30 bus at Tavistock Square.

Photographs and full biographies of the Edgware Road victims can be found at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/uk/05/london_blasts/victims/

Full details of the attacks can be found on the website for the July 7 Coroner's Inquest into the bombings.
