Case synopsis:

Ian Tomlin, 46, died after being assaulted near his home in Battersea on 17 October 2018.

Police and paramedics were called to Charlotte Despard Avenue on the Doddington Estate at around 5.30pm.

Mr Tomlin, who lived on the estate, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.15pm.

Reports suggested he was attacked after confronting drug dealers.

The Metropolitan Police launched a murder investigation and appealed for witnesses.

On 18 October 2018 two men were arrested. The following day Michael Swan, 45 (10.05.73) of Enterprise Way, Wandsworth, and Gary Beech, 48 (26.07.70) of Cromwell House, Charlotte Despard Avenue, Battersea, were charged with murder.

They are due to stand trial at the Old Bailey on 8 April 2019.
