Case synopsis:

Abdirahman Mohamed, 17, was stabbed to death in Peckham on 2 June 2017.

Police were called to the scene near a Tesco Express in Southampton Way at around 11.15pm.

Abdirahman, from Camberwell, was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death was a stab wound to the chest.

Detectives said Abdirahman had visited the Express Chicken Shop on Southampton Road at around 11pm before crossing the road to sit on the bollards opposite Tesco Express.

He was eating his meal when he was approached by two men by bicycles and fatally stabbed.

Kevin Aka-Kadjo, 18 (30/3/99), of Kipling House, Elmington Estate, Southwark, and Sidique Kamara, 21, of John Ruskin Street, Camberwell, were both charged with murder in June 2017.

They went on trial at the Old Bailey on 1 December 2017. Both men were cleared of murder on 10 January 2018.

The prosecution claimed Mr Mohamed was attacked in revenge for 'disrespecting' Aka-Kadjo a few days earlier by mocking him for being arrested by police in possession of a samurai sword in mid-May 2017.

It was claimed the suspects were members of a gang known as 'Moscow17' that posted music videos 'bragging' about the use of knives.

Mr Mohamed had a brother who was a member of a rival gang known as 'Zone 2'

A friend of the victim claimed Kamara was responsible for inflicting the fatal stab wound.

Kamara gave evidence at trial to say he was wrongly identified.

Seven months after his acquittal, on 1 August 2018, Sidique Kamara was stabbed to death in Camberwell.
