Case synopsis:

Kelva Smith, 20, was stabbed to death in South Norwood on 5 March 2018.

Police and paramedics were called to the street outside a nursery in Albert Road at around 5pm.

Mr Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death was a stab wound to the abdomen.

On 7 March 2018 Tyrone Farquharson 19 (23.09.1998) of Archer Road, South Norwood, was charged with murder. On 10 March a 14 year-old boy who cannot be named was charged with murder. A 15 year-old boy was charged with murder on 31 May.

They are due to stand trial at the Old Bailey on 3 September 2018.

DI Tom Dahri said: “A young man has been murdered and we are doing everything we can to catch those involved. This sustained attack happened at rush hour when a lot of people would have been walking or driving home through the area.

"I would appeal for anyone who saw anything to call us and help us build a clearer picture of what took place. Local CCTV footage is being retrieved and examined by my team.”
