Case synopsis:

Mohamed Kakay, 33, was stabbed to death outside St Giles Church in Camberwell.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene in Camberwell Church Street near Wilson Road at around 9.15am on Saturday 19 November 2016.

Mr Kakay, from Bromley, was taken to hospital and died later that afternoon. A post-mortem gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the abdomen.

Detectives said they believed Mohamed entered the grounds at the rear of the church at around 9am.

After being attacked he staggered along a path to the front of the church and on to Camberwell Church Street before collapsing near Wilson Road.

DCI Cliff Lyons, who is leading the investigation, said: "It is believed Mohamed's attacker was around the area of Wilson Road, Camberwell Grove and Camberwell Church Street and the roads leading off from those main routes between 9am and 9.30am on Saturday, November 19th.

"I am particularly appealing to anyone who was in the area between these times that may have been recording video footage from bike helmets, or dashboard cameras or mobile phones. Anyone providing this would be greatly assisting the investigation team."
