Case synopsis:

Devi Unmathallegadoo, 35, died after being shot with a crossbow at her home in Ilford.

Police and paramedics were called to the house in Applegarth Drive at around 7.40am on 12 November 2018.

Ms Unmathallegadoo, also known as Sana Muhammad, was taken to hospital with an abdominal injury.

She was pronounced dead at around 11am.

Ramanodge Unmathallegadoo, 50 (01.04.68), of no fixed address, was arrested at the scene. He was charged with murder on 13 November.

He is due to stand trial at the Old Bailey on 8 April 2019.

DCI Gary Holmes, of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, leading the investigation, said; "This is a tragic incident and our sympathies are with the loved ones and friends of the victim.

"I am appealing for any witnesses who were in the area of Applegarth Drive from the evening of Sunday, 11 November to the morning of Monday, 12 November to please contact us with any information they might have, however small. It could prove vital to our ongoing enquiry."
