Case synopsis:

Moses Mayele, 23, was stabbed to death on his birthday on 12 October 2018.

He was attacked in Manford Way, Hainault, at around 10.20pm.

Mr Mayele, from Ilford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second victim, aged 22, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Metropolitan Police continue to appeal for information on three suspects seen at 3.46am on 13 October, several hours after the attack.

They were seen walking with a petrol can along the pavement in Lord Avenue, Ilford, before turning into Lord Gardens.

A black VW Golf car, which was used by the suspects on the night of the murder, was later found burnt out in Park View Gardens.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes, leading the investigation, said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who can assist us in piecing together the sequence of events that took place that night into the early hours of the next day.

“The man who walked past the three men in Lord Gardens may not have realised the significance of what he saw and I would urge him to come forward and contact police.

“Although we have charged one person, we are still seeking any other persons who were involved in this most brutal murder.

“This case remains a very active and fast paced investigation and I urge anyone with information who may be hesitating to come forward to remember that a family is desperately trying to come to terms with the death of a loved one.

“Your information, no matter how small, could provide a missing piece to the puzzle that helps remove a dangerous, violent offender from the streets.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact detectives on 020 8345 1570 via 101 quoting reference 8451/12Oct.  Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

On 25 October 2018 Ibrahim Mohamed, 19, was charged with murder and attempted murder. He is due to stand trial at the Old Bailey on 8 April 2019.
